Limitations and application
The exact compliance requirements depend on the equipment rating, manufacturer’s instructions, plug or adaptor certification and the type of socket outlet provided. A photograph alone cannot confirm the equipment’s internal protection, earthing arrangement or fuse requirements. Some purpose-designed outlets accept two-pin plugs, but a standard BS 1363 socket must not be used in this manner. The installation should be assessed and tested by a competent electrician, and any replacement plug, lead or conversion adaptor must be suitable for the appliance and must not invalidate its warranty or certification.
